OUTLINE OF CHAPTER
Inmates of Hell: Those guilty of spiritual sins: false attribution to God, denying resurrection, mocking the judgment day, denial of the existence of hell, those who were bent on denying the truth, hypocrites, persecution of believers, unforgivable sin of apostasy, followers of Satan. Sins against fellow man: Breaking bond with God and spreading corruption, when sins exceed good deeds, record of the wicked, send us back to do good deeds, withholders of good, aggressors and fomenters of distrust, three cardinal sins (idol worship, adultery and murder), corrupt and oppressive leaders, devouring others possessions, discarding laws of inheritance, amassing wealth and not spending on others, lust for wealth by religious leaders, breaking oath, sin of sectarianism.
Torments of hell: The hell-fire, seven gates of hell, faces tossed around in blazing fire, gate keepers of hell, angelic powers over hell, sparks from giant burning logs. The tree of deadly fruits: prophet’s vision of hell and tree of deadly fruits, the tree of deadly fruit a symbol of hell, eating from the tree of deadly fruits. Drinking waters of bitter distress: Drink from boiling spring and food of bitter dry thorns. Chains and shackles for sinners: Linked together in tight space with blazing flame, seal placed on mouths of sinners but hands and feet bear witness, heavy fetters, blazing fire, choking food and grievous suffering. Icy-cold darkness: Burning despair in icy-cold darkness. Dialogues from hell: Among those waiting for judgment and inmates of heaven and hell, dialogue between keepers of hell and sinners, pleading for mercy directly to God. Limited punishment for sin: Limited suffering in hell eternal happiness in paradise.
