(19) Concept of war and peace

OUTLINE OF CHAPTER
Making peace with your enemies: Making peace with nonbelievers (even if they are deceiving), when peace becomes an obligation, pardon your enemies and make peace, honor peace treaty.
Jihad or just war: sanctity of life, just cause, denying others freedom of religion, defense of religious freedom, war in self-defense, sin of aggression, repeated acts of aggression.
Jihad against hypocrite, nonbelievers and Muslims: War against those who violate peace treaty, fight against the followers of Bible if they fight you, use of force against Muslims, terrorism and cult of death: The chargers (100).
Jihad an obligation: war in self defense an obligation, refusal by hypocrites and nominal Muslims to join in a just war, half-hearted believers not prepared to undergo sacrifices, Muslims who refused to participate in just war, participation of women in jihad, scholars and disabled exempt from war.
Conduct during battle: Prepare to defend yourselves, gathering intelligence, conquering the fear of death, do not attack noncombatants, fight with valor during battle, conversion to Islam during battle, never surrender or beg for peace, divine aid is contingent upon true faith and righteous deeds.
Martyrdom: do not regret martyrdom, forgiveness of sins of martyrs, martyrs are alive, paradise for martyr and punishment for unbelievers.
Ending of a just war: Human rights for prisoners of war, setting free prisoners of war, exemption tax for the followers of earlier revelations. Distribution of war booty: spoils of war are public property, distribution of war-gains (without actual fighting).
Forming alliances and friendships: Do not form alliances with hostile nonbelievers, Prohibition of moral alliance with Jews and Christians, ally with God and apostle, do not take hostile unbelievers for friends, do not associate with Satan’s partisans, show kindness towards non-hostile unbelievers.
Biblical concept of war and peace: Violence and ruthless killing by the Jews and the Christians. Massacres of biblical proportion by the Jews: Massacre of Midianites, Amorites, people of Bashan, destruction of seven nations, ethnic cleansing of Canaanites, fall of Jericho, annihilation of Ai, massacre of Amalekites.
