(18) Conquest of Mecca and later conflicts

OUTLINE OF CHAPTER
The peace treaty of Hudaybiyyah (spring 628): Victory achieved by the truce of Hudaybiyyah, punishment for hypocrites and idol-worshippers, pledge of faith and allegiance, hypocrites who stayed behind, promise of future victories, restrain from violence in Mecca, stubborn disdain, apostle’s true vision, true believers.
The campaign of Khaybar: fighting prohibited for material gain. The campaign of Mutah (629).
The conquest of Mecca and liberation of Kabah (630): Breach of the truce of Hudaybiyyah, breaking of idols in Kabah, true guardians of Kabah, exclusion of pagan Arabs from Kabah, higher rank for those who spent and fought before conquest of Mecca.
The battle of Hunayn (630).
The campaign of Tabuk (631): Reluctance to join campaign of Tabuk, admonition to prophet, they grieve at your good fortune, God’s pleasure is the only worthwhile goal, we were only indulging in idle talk, proselytizing unbelievers and hypocrites, no forgiveness for hypocrites, reward for believers, valid excuse, punishment in afterlife, acceptance of repentance and charity, those whose cases were at first deferred but repented shortly, reward for ultimate sacrifice, God’s mercy, struggle against nonbelievers.
